Honeymoon Kenya & Zanzibar

We offer a ‘meet and greet’ service on all our luxury Kenya holidays. As soon as you disembark from your international flight, you will be met by a representative and escorted through immigration, customs and baggage collection. Your representative will remain with you until you meet your driver in the arrivals area. Your driver will then transfer you to Wilson Airport (domestic airport) where you’ll board a light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. Upon arrival to the Masai Mara you will be met by a representative and driven to your safari lodge or camp, enjoying a game drive en-route. We use a number of award-winning and environmentally conscious safari camps and luxury lodges within the Masai Mara and the outlying conservancies. The facilities at the lodges and camps are equal to any 5-star hotel anywhere in the world. Whether you’re staying in a lavish chalet at a luxury lodge or in a gorgeous canvas tent at a luxury campsite, you can typically expect king-size beds with quality bed linen and mosquito nets, and en-suite bathrooms with fully flushing ceramic toilets, washbasins and hot showers. Your day will start with a morning game drive exploring the plains and forests of the Masai Mara. This iconic reserve is regarded as one of the best wildlife viewing destinations in Africa and it is renowned for its big cats, with lion, leopard and cheetah all in abundance. You’ll also see large herds of zebra, impala, gazelle, wildebeest, buffalo and elephant, as well as hippos and crocodiles along the riverbanks. After your morning game drive you’ll return to your camp or lodge for a delicious lunch. Our partner luxury lodges and camps are typically booked on an all-inclusive basis, meaning your breakfast, lunch and dinner are all included, as well as mineral water, house wines, soft drinks, beers and non-luxury spirits. After lunch you’ll have time to relax before your afternoon game drive. On a late-afternoon game drive, your driver and guide may stop the vehicle on the plains and set up a small table and director’s chairs, so you can sit and enjoy a drink as you watch the sunset. This evening you’ll dine with other guests at your lodge or camp. You’ll sit around a large communal table and the main topic of conversation will undoubtedly be of your incredible wildlife sightings during the day. Most lodges and camps also offer alternative dining options and you may prefer to enjoy a romantic, candlelit meal on your private deck, or even out in the bush under the starlit African sky.

Today you’ll have early morning and late afternoon game drives with a highly experienced and enthusiastic local guide who will expertly locate lions, leopards, cheetahs and other wildlife. Your lodge or camp may also offer the opportunity for a night game drive where you may see nocturnal animals such as porcupines, aardvarks, civet cats, white-tailed mongoose and honey badgers.

As well as game drives there are a number of other activities that you can participate in during your time in the Masai Mara, including cultural visits to Masai villages and markets, guided bush walks, horse riding, and unique black rhino tracking experiences. You may even wish to take a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the plains and forests of the Masai Mara, before enjoying a sumptuous champagne breakfast overlooking the spectacular Kenyan wilderness.

This morning you’ll have time for one final game drive before lunch at your lodge or camp. After lunch you’ll be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight to Nairobi, where you’ll take a connecting flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar’s Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) you’ll be met by a representative and driven to your accommodation, where you will stay for the next seven nights. With its spectacular sunsets, pristine white sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters and colorful coral reefs, this exotic island is the perfect honeymoon destination. Today you can relax and enjoy your first full day on the tropical islands of Zanzibar. Spend your time lounging on the soft white beaches with a cocktail or coconut and take a dip in the stunning crystal clear waters. Your accommodation may have facilities such as a swimming pool, tennis courts, a gym, a spa offering a range of massages and treatments, and a water sports club offering wind surfing, kite surfing, sailing, and exceptional snorkeling and diving.

Zanzibar offers an incredible range of adventure activities, including mountain biking, hiking, bird watching, wind surfing, kite surfing, stand up paddling through the mangroves, sea kayaking and sailing, plus the island is surrounded by breathtaking coral reefs filled with shoals of radiant fish. You’ll see some dazzling species on a snorkelling or diving excursion, and you may even spot green turtles, a playful pod of dolphins, and at certain times of the year, whale sharks.

There are plenty of day trips and excursions to enjoy during your time on the Zanzibar islands, including visits to Prison Island, Mnarani Turtle Sanctuary, exotic spice plantations, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Stone Town, and Jozani Forest which is home to the Red Colobus Monkey. You can also go on reef and dolphin safaris, mangrove forest and dhow trips and take a cultural tour to local villages.

Today you may wish to take a day trip to the Jozani Chwaka National Park, one of the last remaining sanctuaries in the world of the Red Colobus monkey. The forest is also home to a variety of other wildlife including sykes monkeys, bush pigs, Ader’s duiker and suni antelopes, elephant shrews, chameleons and lots of birdlife and butterflies.

Take a day to visit historic Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a former spice trading port. The town is brimming with history and a melting pot of cultures, with a unique blend of Swahili, Arabic, Persian, Indian and European influences found in the architecture and cuisine. Explore the maze of winding alleyways, filled with colourful bazaars selling clothes, spices and trinkets. Discover the ancient stone houses, carved wooden doors, Arabian arches, latticed windows and overhanging balconies. There are several cultural places of interest including the Portuguese Fort, the old Dhow Port, the Old Slave Market, the Sultan’s Palace, the House of Wonders, Livingstone House, the Hamamni Baths and the Persian Baths of Kidichi.

Today is your last full day on Zanzibar. Spend the day relaxing on the beach, getting out on the water, or going on an adventure around the island. We recommend enjoying your final Zanzibar sunset with an unforgettable experience on a sundowner cruise aboard a traditional dhow.

Your Kenya & Zanzibar Honeymoon has sadly come to an end. After breakfast this morning you’ll check-out of your accommodation and will be driven to the airport for your flight home. You’ll be leaving with many unique, blissful memories and a special connection to east Africa and it’s incredible sites and people.
